The Mind Trust opens application for Talent Innovation Fund
Indianapolis – (January 26, 2022) – The Mind Trust, an Indianapolis-based education nonprofit organization, is now accepting applications for the Talent Innovation Fund, an initiative that supports local ideas to attract and retain talented teachers for public schools in Indianapolis. The Talent Innovation Fund awards funding to local schools, districts, networks, and organizations to support innovative strategies that focus on recruitment and growing the number of teachers with certifications and licensures that can support student learning.
“When we invest in teachers, students see a direct benefit,” said Sara Marshall, Senior Director of Talent at The Mind Trust. “The Mind Trust believes the Talent Innovation Fund can help develop a strong, diverse talent pool that can meet the needs of all types of learners.”
The Mind Trust aims to triple the number of students within Indianapolis Public Schools geography who are academically proficient in English in math by 2027. The Talent Innovation Fund supports this goal by increasing the number of effective K-12 teachers and investing in ideas that can make a sustainable impact on teacher recruitment.

Our city should prioritize strategies that grow the number of high-quality teachers who serve Indianapolis students,” said Brandon Brown, CEO of The Mind Trust. “The Talent Innovation Fund can help bring innovative ideas to this challenge and directly impact the quality of instruction for Indianapolis students.”
The Talent Innovation Fund application is open from Wednesday, January 26, 2022 to Tuesday, March 9, 2022. Applicants may be from an individual school or from a local district, school network, or organization that serves K-12 students in Center Township. School applicants may be from Indianapolis Public Schools, IPS Innovation Network Schools, or public charter schools within Center Township.
Applications should be focused on teacher recruitment or initiatives that increase the number of teachers with certifications or licensure in areas that impact student learning, such as Special Education, English Language Learners, and Career Technical Education. Funding decisions will be announced by the end of April, with implementation occurring during the course of the 2022-2023 school year.
