Avience Brown

Emerging Leaders Fellow Avience Brown will further the impact of Victory College Prep (VCP) by partnering with Indiana Learns as a Champion Plus School partner with the goal of ensuring that learning outcomes are monitored, informing families about their student’s progress, and planning celebrations.

Brown is the Assistant Principal of Humanities Instruction for the 7-12 School at VCP and has 6 years of experience in education. Before her current role, she worked as an 8th-grade ELA teacher, joining VCP in 2018.

She has also previously served as the 7-12 English Department Chair at VCP. She won the Black Excellence in Education Award 2020 and is an Indiana Teaching Fellows 2017-18 alumni. Brown earned her bachelor’s of arts in English literature and education studies at DePauw University and her master’s in teaching from Marian University.
