Tenika Holden-Flynn

Tenika Holden-Flynn is a Charter School Fellow designing the third school in the Indianapolis Classical Schools Network. The elementary school, Herron Preparatory Academy, will have a similar classical, liberal arts model as the network’s two high schools—Herron High School and Riverside High School.

Dr. Tenika Holden-Flynn is a professional educator with more than 15 years of experience. She began her career as a high school social studies teacher in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and has served as a school leader for elementary, middle, high schools, and adult education programs. Dr. Holden-Flynn focused on increasing students English language arts and math proficiency rates by maximizing instructional time and providing strategic intervention. Dr. Holden-Flynn’s efforts have led students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels to increase their grade level proficiency by two years in one academic school year. She contributes her success to building strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and community partners.

Dr. Holden-Flynn is committed to closing the achievement gap, and providing a high quality K-8 educational experience for all students. She is looking forward to implementing the classical model at Herron Preparatory Academy and continuing the tradition of excellence that has been established by Herron and Riverside High Schools. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Social Studies from Youngstown State University, a Master of Science in Educational Studies from Johns Hopkins University, and an Education Doctorate in Educational Administration and Policy from Howard University.
