As Partner, CT Network and School Growth, Lavinia Mackall leads TMT’s school support strategy in an effort to grow the number of high-quality charter schools serving students throughout the state of Connecticut. She leads this programming to ensure academic quality in CT charter schools, with a focus on scaling high-quality, multi-school operators.

Prior to joining The Mind Trust, Lavinia was a leader at Success Academy Charter Schools for over a decade. She rose from teacher to principal and turned around a failing elementary school in East Harlem. Her school was one of 364 schools nationwide to receive a National Blue Ribbon Award for School Excellence in 2019. 

After her tenure as principal, Lavinia served as both the Head of K-12 Learning Quality and a School Superintendent to maximize school performance across 50 elementary, middle, and high schools in Brooklyn, Harlem, The Bronx, and Queens. 

She holds a master of arts in teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education and a bachelor of arts in music from Vassar College. Lavinia lives in Connecticut, where she was born and raised, with her husband and 3 children.
